People of Illinois are ahead of the politicians when it comes to demanding affordability and reform.
We need property tax relief.
We need to hold the line on utility bills.
We need stronger, no-nonsense ethics reforms.
This petition is how everyday people can take charge of their own government.
For too long, powerful interests have blocked reform. This amendment changes that.
If the people gather enough signatures, this would require the members of the Illinois General Assembly to take a roll call vote.
If politicians won’t act on their own, this is how we force real reform.
–President Abraham Lincoln.
It's time to let the voice of everyday people be heard.
This is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This is our chance to strengthen our democracy and declare independence from rising property tax bills and out-of-control utility bills.
If enough voters sign a petition, the proposal would require the Illinois General Assembly to hold a public, recorded vote—where every lawmaker’s “yes” or “no” is on the record—on issues the public cares about.
To make this work, the amendment creates an independent Taxpayer Advocate whose job is to verify citizen petitions, turn approved petitions into official bills. and ensure those bills receive a mandatory up-or-down vote in both chambers of the legislature
Sign the petition, get it notarized, and send it to the Committee for Taxpayer & Consumer Affordability Amendment, PO Box 263, Monee, IL, 60449 as soon as possible.
We need to collect as many petitions as possible by May 3, 2026!
If you would like to sign electronically, contact us at affordabilityil@gmail.com.
